Facebook addiction

Has anyone else jumped on this wagon? A few months ago i reluctantly signed up just to see what all the hype was about. I figured who in the world would i know on there except my daughter and her friends? Well, was i in for a surprise. I re-connected with people i went to school with and cousins that i haven't seen in at least 15 years or better!
What totally amazes me is how small my state really is. ( I live in RI and you know how small that state is! ) I have come to find out that some one my husband works with is best friends with one of my cousins, a girl i went to high school with works with another of my cousins, my cousin Tom is in the same national guard unit as my husbands niece. The more people i connect with the more i find how many of them are connected thru family or work. Amazing.
Now i can't keep off the site....i must be on it at least 5 times a day checking mail and catching up with everyone. I thought Myspace was bad..well ok it is...i'm addicted to Mafia Wars. Rachel got me started playing Mobsters and it took off from there! lol
I have also discovered Stumble.com...WAY cool site. What it is...is a website that you tell what you like...ie...crafting, cooking, whatever. You hit the button on your toolbar and it stumbles onto sites according to your preferences. I have found some of the coolest sites with this. I have found lots of cooking/food journals here on blogger and some really cool craft and jewelry sites. Check out the blogs i am following to see what i am talking about.
So anywho....i have been actually doing stuff that doesn't require the computer!
Besides my Facebook addiction..i have been keeping myself busy with different things around the house. I re-arranged my living room and computer room. The flow is much better with the new arrangements. I have almost completed my filing project, but i know something will come up and throw me off track. Murphys Law.
I've also been helping my sister with her place and have also helped her by taking to my vet to get two of her cats neutered. Now there is NO chance of anymore kitties! Of the two boys i love Dale. He is the most laid back and loving friendly cats i know. If i could get another cat i would take him. Just don't tell my sister...he's one of her favorites too! Thomas is ok...and Dales daddy but is not as friendly as Dale.
Megan lost her two front bottom teeth in March. (sniff) My little one is not little anymore...as she puts it she's almost a first grader now...i guess that means she is getting to be more of a big girl. Never mind the fact that she is still a kindergartner until June!
Megan had her first boat ride back in March. My husband, Megan, Tammie and i went to Long Island for the day to go shopping at Tanger Outlets. I recommend it if you are in the area. We took the ferry from New London, CT...to Long Island. New London is only 40 or so minuets from where i live. The ferry ride was about an hour and 20mins. Then once we got on the island it was about an hour drive from the ferry to Riverhead where the outlet is. Long Island is a beautiful place to drive thru. The little quaint towns we went through reminded me of Martha's Vineyard. I am definitely going back for another day of shopping!!
We also had a chance to meet a celebrity at our local library. Megan and i met Brian Harnois from Ghost Hunters. Now that he has retired from the show...he gives talks on the paranormal and ghost hunting in general. He was very cool and down to earth. He signed autographs and took pictures with anyone who wanted to.

So this has been my life thus far since i last posted. I do read everyone else and try to keep up..i may not always comment but i do read. Just know that if your blog is in my reading list that you are definitely one of my favorite reads..and i have many!
Well this all for now...i will update more later on..promise. I will have no excuse next week as we are leaving for our annual May vacation to NH. And yes the computer is coming with me. lol
Later all...

More vacation fun from Florida
So seeing the Red Sox wasn't the only fun we had while in Florida. We took a ride over to Sanibel Island which is off the coast of Ft Myers.
While we were in Best Buy in Ft. Myers buying my husband his new camera, a very friendly and very knowledgeable sales person named Jared told us of some fabulous places to go and take pictures of native wildlife. He recommended J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge.
So we looked it up and were off the next day to check it out.

A pelican diving after a fish.

If look very carefully you can see 3 big pink and white birds in the middle of the trees.

These are the pictures i took with my camera. The ones my husband took with his new camera are WAY better as he had the telephoto lens with his! LOL
We spend a couple of hours there taking pictures and seeing lots of birds and fish and such. Very cool place to go and we are definitely going back again next year.

Hello all,
Yes i am fianlly posting agian! lol
The last couple of weeks have been very busy for us. We left a few days early for our annual vacation week with my in-laws this year. School vacation was the 16th to the 20th but we left on the 10th as we drove this year.
We usuallay go down to visit in the middle of January as that's when our birthdays are. (Me and Roland) But now that Megan is in school we need to work around the school vacations. No big deal....weather is still awesome for this time of the year. I guess i should mention that my in-laws live in Florida just outside of Fort Myers.
This was the best year so far for vacation week. The biggest highlight for me was being able to go to spring training and see the Red Sox practice!! I am a HUGE Red Sox fan. I always told my husband every year when we go down there that i wanted to go to spring training. Now this year we had the chance as we switched the time from Jan to Feb.
Roland and i got LOTS of pictures and the only autograph we got was from John Henry. (one of the owners of the team) There were tons of fans there and the players coudn't spend all day sighning as they were there to train! But it was SOO worth being there just to be able to see these guys in person.
How cool is this!?! Fenway Park made out of Legos!!
I have tons more pictures but this wasn't the only place we went during the week. We also went over to Sanibel and Captiva Islands. One of the best beaches i have ever been to.
While we were on Sanibel we went to a nature sanctuary. Very cool.
Also went to Calusa which is nature center and planaterium in Fort Myers. That was a good day. I will have to make another entry just on those places.
TTFN...will be back with more of our vacation

It's been awhile since i last posted..i know...i know
I was busy with the Holidays and then i got sick for 2 weeks with a nasty cold. Then after that i just got involved with cleaning out our basement. After my in-laws sold their house here in RI 2 years ago, we somehow inherited a ton of stuff that just ended up all over our basement! Not to mention all of our stuff that's just sitting there since we've bought this house almost 9 years ago. It's worse than a storage unit down there.
So slowly i've been going through stuff and i moved the filing cabinets down there so now we have one central spot for all our important papers and such. I try and get a little bit done in the morning while Megan is in school. It's still a long haul ahead...but i will succeed!
Whoever said that being a stay at home mom was easy?! Some days i miss going to work but then i sit back and really think about it. It was actually the people i worked with that i miss the most...not the work! LOL I do miss adult interaction. I do see my husband on his days off and most nights when he's home from work... but it's not really the same. No offence to my husband...i love him with all my being. But more adults around would be nice.
I think that's why i started my own blog. It gives me a way to connect to people in a way. I may never meet them face to face, but i enjoy the glimpses they give into their own lives. If you look at the blogs that i follow you will see my favorites. They are some of the most down to earth people i've ever "known". So i figured after a couple years of getting to know them...i would open up my corner of life and let other take a peek at my family and life. I may think what goes on in my life is boring or non relevant but maybe someone else out there reading about it might think otherwise.
I need to put some more pictures up. I have only put Megan in here but i should go and find some of me and my husband and my doggies!
Stay tuned!!

The countdown has begun! LOL
Now that it's December i can safely decorat e holidays. I cannot bring myself to put up Christmans stuff until the other holidays have past. I like to enjoy each holiday as is comes and then move on to the next.
Also my daughters birthday is the 24th. I always ask her if she wants to put up decorations before or after her party. I like her to be able to celebrate her birthday without it being lost to Christmas. She is OK with the tree going up this week.
Her party with her school friends is on the 13th and the family will get together on Sunday. I just couldn't see trying to combine ALL those kids and ALL my family together at Monster Golf.
She picked Star Wars (big surprise, lol) as her cake theme. So i have been scouring the internet for some ideas on how the decorate her cake. I found at Walmart the Star Wars Galactic Heros sets and i have been thinking of ways i can use them on the cake. They are cute figures...kind of kid like.

I will post pictures of the cake when completed.
So last night we went to the tree lighting event in town. It was pretty cool. They had kids from the local dance studio dancing to music and the chorus from the high school singing Christmas carols. Free face painting and ballon sculptures. S'mores and hot chocolate and cider. Fire pits for toasting marshmallows. Santa arrived on the fire truck and gave out candy canes and apples and oranges. You could also have your picture taken with him. I took this one.
Megan with her cousin Joey.
It was the first time i've been to something like that. It was pretty cool. I went with my sister and her two kids. Megan had a blast. I wish my husband could have gone but he had to work last night. At least he will be home for Christmas and that's what counts.
Ok i am off to pull out the decorations now that Megan is home from school.
Have a good one.

Halloween has come and gone and now the big push in on for ......Thanks....wait WHAT...Christmas?! Where did Thanksgiving go?
Why can't we celebrate each holiday as it comes, then move on to the next? Halloween was barely here and the stores were already getting their shelves ready for Christmas! I don't know about anyone else but i like to take each holiday as it comes and enjoy it. I know that Thanksgiving is a food holiday, but it's a day were i get to spend time with ALL my family members.
This year 3 people in my extended family have moved down to South Carolina. It's hard when relatives move out of state. My in-laws live in Florida but they come up during the summer only because they can't take the cold winters anymore. So we go down there in the winter and spend time with them. I thinks that's a fair trade! Fort Myers in the middle of January!! I'm there.
Only this year we have to go in February as Megan is in school now and we need to work around the school vacations! Oh well no big deal...what's one more month?
Anywho...here are some pictures from Halloween.
Megan with her sister Tammie
Megan wither her friend Mason and his little brothers in the wagon. I'm not sure who the older girl is. Friend of the family i think.
My cool pumpkins lit up!
Hope all are well

I can't believe that Halloween is almost here. Megan is sooo ready. She keeps looking at the calender and counting down each day as it gets closer! LOL
This past Saturday she went to her first school event. They had a Halloween Party/Dance at the school. She had a blast hanging out with her classmates and dancing and doing crafts. So for almost 4 hours my little girl "partied" with her pals.
The only thing missing is her laser gun!
We went pumpkin picking earlier in the week and on Friday we carved the pumpkins.
The artist hard at work.
Posing with the finished products. The little one in front was for her babies. She "helped" them draw pictures and a face on it. LOL
Hope everyone is well.

Today Megan went to a classmates birthday party. ( first of many i expect) The party was held in a place in Providence called Regal Reptiles. Yes...alligators...snakes..turtles and the like. At first i wasn't too keen on the idea but i figured when ever in my lifetime would i be able to get up close to these kinds of creatures and pet them. Yes i said pet them. I actually got to feel an alligator....felt sort of like a wallet. LOL The afternoon was definitely interesting and fun for the kids. Megan's ready to go back again!

This is the alligator everyone got to pet....small but strong!

She was the only kid in the group who wanted to wear the snake around her neck. I think the reason why was as the story goes back in ancient Egypt the pharaohs wore these kids of snakes as living jewelry because they would stay curled up in the person. Megan has a HUGE fascination with ancient Egypt.

This is part of a really big snake that was laid over all the laps of the kids. The head was to the left of the picture down 2 kids.
So that was our big and exciting day. Like i said...it was different but a pretty good time. Who knows where the next birthday party will take us before Megan has hers in December. She choose to do Monster Golf. That place is cool.
Time to pack it up for the night.
Later all.
